He obviously set this “patriotic” jail thing up just to have an excuse to punish inmates further. Why do they keep electing this sadistic asshole?

Because Sheriff Joe satisfies the deep-seated urges of a majority of the voters in Maricopa county to have a loud and proud racist as sheriff.

Can.
We.
Arrest.
Him.
Yet.

This question needs to be asked every day until the answer is yes.

I read the Phoenix New Times blog every day, and it seems that there are many in Maricopa County who are extremely dissatisfied with Arpaio, including some republicans. From what I can glean from the comments, there are many retirees in the county and they are strong Arpaio supporters. This is what has kept him in power for so long. PNT reported earlier this week that Airpao is considering a run for governor, something which I think would make a sad situation sadder.

Why was a flag put in people’s cells? Does that deluded jackass really think inmates give half a fuck whose flag flies in their goddamned jail cells? Foisting patriotism (or a lot of other things) on people brings nothing but resentment. Dickhead Joe uses it as one more tool in his toolbox to degrade and manipulate people who are already in jail.

He’s a sick fuck, and he needs to go.

Forced patriotism is false patriotism. It is a tool used by Fascists to punish those whomever the official in power wants to target, and to reinforce power for himself.

He is by definition, a Fascist.

So how much has this ass cost the county in legal fees and judgements during his reign? Just one lawsuit in 2007 for the false arrests of the founders of the New Times cost the county $3.75 million, and I know there have been many more that he’s been involved in and lost.

Joe is a very expensive habit to have.
