From the article, I see Bill Nye is going ahead with his “debate” with Ken Ham. I thought he was smarter than that.

No good can possibly come from this.

Skip Intro,

Will the madness ever stop?

I wonder if the “analyze, critique, and review” students will enjoy will also be applied to other subjects, such as American History when it comes to “Merica winning’ the war all by itself (doesn’t matter which war) or the concept of “American Exceptionalism.”

What this sounds really like is a go-ahead to disrupt classes according to Evangelical Christian student’s whims. Any disruptions coming from Atheist, Buddhist, or Muslim students about touchy subjects, well, they will be sent to the principle’s office immediately.

Well if we give credence to that canard, we should also bring into the discussion every God from every religion and hold a debate on the number of angels who can dance on the head of a pin. Roman, Greek, Hindu, Buddhist, Animist, Agnostics, Christians (every last denomination) Muslims, (all sects and branches) and Judaism and every other who ever kneeled and worshiped a deity. That should free up about 5 minutes a day for enlightenment and education so we can compete with science based nations who are going to kick our stupid asses back 85 years. Oh. Wait. I get it. It’s OUR GOD. Whew. Thought this was America, and all things equal and all that. / Schmucks. Pure schmucks.

This country was a hell of a lot more enlightened regarding the roles of science and religion 85 years ago than it is today.

I think you need add around ten centuries to your estimate.

I don’t want to go overboard but it’s really dangerous ground. If it’s faith based, then science is an inexact equation because “there is no mention of it in the BOOKS” bullshit raps. It’s a power grab, pure and simple. Money and power and my God over all. It’s a scary future if the creationists get the upper hand. And they sit and wonder how enlightened civilizations crashed so suddenly? Look to the sky.

What’s really scary is that something near 45% of the country believes that the Rapture will occur during their lifetime or within the next 50 years.

No need for long term planning or any concern about climate change or any other sciencey stuff when that’s your worldview. That they elect politicians who believe exactly the same thing just makes it worse.

Then you have the ones awaiting Armageddon. Some even working towards it. Look at this example of brain damage. The future’s so bright, I gotta wear shades.

How many frigging “the antichrists” are there these days? By my count it has to be over 100, and I really haven’t been paying attention.
