“How do you justify your agency’s attack on LulzSec?”

“Why, we did it for the lulz, old bean.”

This shows again how incredibly out of touch these people are.

They’re trying to make Anonymous into heroes of free speech. They’re not. They’re malicious, narcissistic criminals who have occasionally come down on the right side of an issue, but have also engaged in credit card theft and DoS attacks on websites people need.

And at least on one occasion, people connected with Anonymous have launched a DoS attack on LGF, and tried to out my personal info. These are not heroes. They’re criminals.

I can’t feel sorry for people who associate with, well, brazen criminals with a persona of nose-thumbing, and get a little blowback from that. Grow up, kidz. If you wanna run with the tough guys, you are going to take their flak. Duh.

There’s a tip of this iceberg poking out at Slashdot and my sampling of that community over the years seems to indicate a staggering amount of narcissism and hubris.

It is the job of government to protect the citizenry and that includes from hackers who may say their cause is just, but who have far too often acted according to petty vendettas and power trips. Wired needs to take a chill pill.

There is no doubt there criminals within the Anonymous collective, and Anonymous has certainly gained its prominence through the more notorious actions of some who identify themselves as members of Anonymous. But, are all those who identify themselves as part of the Anonymous movement, criminals?
