Did I already speculate on how long it will be before beating on one of these kids leads to a school shooting?

Beating on kids teaches them two things: to avoid you, and hate you. If you think they are learning anything else, think again.

Its pretty well established that corporal punishment makes behavior worse, not better. But Kansas has a lot of crazy wingnuts in its legislature. Hopefully this bill will die faster than the Jim Crow for Gays bill did.

OK, I support a quick swat once in a great while for a child who is too young to understand that they shouldn’t run out into the road or something equally dangerous (they do manage to escape once in a while, after all.) Not for a child old enough to understand “If you do X, I’ll spank you.” They’re obviously going to be old enough to understand both why they shouldn’t do “X” and that there are many other exciting consequences like “time-out”, grounding, reparations for the act if someone is hurt by it, etc.
Bruising? Never, ever.

The first person to lay a hand on my child and leave a mark would discover the wonder of a fist holding a roll of nickels plowing into their face. Who the fuck are these people? Smaller government and responsibility? Where? Your GOP. Leave a mark on them come election day.

You don’t want teachers teaching kids sex ed or evolution but you do want them hitting your kids? The fuck.

If we allow people to legally hit children, then those jobs will attract people who want to hit children.

Kansas is turning into Texas, even their Democrats are wingnuts.
