The Tea Party turned out to be good for something after all. There is no need for working people to be screwed out of a decent retirement, and now that the budget deficit has been slashed, it appears the “fiscal crisis” mania is over.

The teahadists are holding out for Larry Klayman or Joe Arpaio or Mike Zullo or Orly Taitz to remove the usurper from office, nullifying the 2008 election and every law/executive order passed by Obama, and putting the rightful winners of 2008, President Sarah Palin and VP John McCain, into office.

Nothing less is acceptable to them.

I just worry that the GOP and Tea Party people will try to sell the idea that Obama was eager to cut SS and Medicare. Some folks are dumb enough to not recognize that Obama was offering it as a concession, not something he truly wished for in his heart of hearts.

Since so much of the GOP and Tea Party is elderly, it would have been really hard to sell an increase in federal revenues paired with SS and Medicare cuts as a positive thing.

They already did. “Obama cut Medicare to benefit Obamacare” was a Romney/Ryan talking point. This is why you can’t give the GOP anything, because they will reject it and use it against you.

The Republicans aren’t interested in making Medicare/Social Security sustainable programs, they just want to cut taxes for the rich. So a “compromise” that a: raises taxes on rich people, b: reduces Social Security/Medicare benefits for the GOP’s elderly base (who deserve THEIR benefits, unlike those other moochers) and c: makes Obama look good was never an option to begin with. The country should be happy that when it comes to this issue, the GOP was blinded with Obama hate and rejected an opportunity to cut Social Security and Medicare
