In conclusion, Sewell said that he still owned a “strap” of the black man’s skin that had been given to him by his grandfather.

“They made a strap out of his skin, and they used that strap as a knife sharpener,” Allen remarked.

Mainord pointed out that the skin “was like a trophy to him, and that concerns me.”

In truth, some stories just fly right by the Godwin rule.

“I am the victim because I made a mistake,” Sewell observed.

Taking skin from dead men, after battles, to make belts and such, was a common practice in the country for quite some time. So I would not be surprised if it was done during lynching or killings of AA’s as well.

The locals here are still trying to recover a few missing fingers and other parts from this:

Class E Felony:

“Not less than one (1) year nor more than six (6) years in prison. In addition, the jury may assess a fine not to exceed three thousand dollars ($3,000), unless otherwise provided by statute”

I guess I won’t hold my breath for the DA to act on this.

Creepy.

There’s a bent contingent of assholes that relish and collect macabre objects, including items made of human skin, swastikas, torture objects, and assorted creepy shit linked to bad histories.

There’s an even creepier contingent that covets and admires how these objects came to be. This chicken fried fuck is one of them. In most people’s minds, that makes him a sick sonofabitch fucking asshole scourge of the earth. In his mind, that makes him a “victim.”

In truth, some stories just fly right by the Godwin rule.

Part of Godwin’s law is that it does not apply in cases where the person or group in question has actually engaged in the sort of atrocities the Nazis perpetrated. Showing off trophies made from the bodies or personal effects of murdered “racial violators” qualifies as Nazi-grade and thus William Sewell may be fairly compared to them.
