Now, RBS, we know this isn’t true, at least according to many on the right. We’re exaggerating the number of death threats President Obama has received/ is receiving. They do sh*t like this but are too chickensh*t to admit to it.

As a Person of Color, survivor of the 1950s Jim Crow South, and long time participant in, and observer of, American politics, it’s no secret to me that many on the right want President Obama gone, pooh! even if it means assassinating him.

A major source of shame that this has happened/is happening is, imo, due to the MSM’s complicity and cowardice in neglecting to report this, its collective decision to pretend it isn’t happening/hasn’t happened, and its’ players acting as if these death threats have nothing to do with this president’s race.

according to Ronald Kessler, author of In the President’s Secret Service.

Ronald Kessler? Isn’t he the same guy who wrote a gossip book about the White House that contains the alleged LBJ quote “I’ll have those N-words voting Democratic for the next 200 years!” which, according to all the wingnuts, somehow invalidates the entire Civil Rights movement.

The only issue I have with this is that both of the links provided appear to be quite old. The first link was originally posted in November 2012, a couple of weeks after the election. The second one is even older, coming from early in Obama’s first term - August 2009 to be exact.
I’m not minimizing the importance of reporting the death threats or the thankless hard work of the US Secret Service, but a fresher set of data would be helpful in the name of accuracy.

A cursory search for a newer report hasn’t been fruitful, as the only story of note that I found was of localities complaining of the level of security that the Secret Service is employing to keep people under their protection safe.

D.C.mayor says Secret Service street closures paralyzing downtown traffic

I also think that it would be useful to see how much any extra resources for protecting the President and others is impacting the Secret Service’s other duties - as they are under the Treasury Department, and are responsible for investigating federal crimes dealing with money.

Now I see why the right wing crazies are so afraid of government prison camps. 30 of them should be going to prison or a mental-hospital every day.
