D’Souza: Obama Is Coming for Your Couches, Cars
D’Souza told the conservative conference that Obama believes “the free market system is based on theft” and seemed to be under the impression that Obama came up with the entire system of taxation: “Think about this, it’s almost like here you are at home, you’re watching TV, and a bunch of government guys show up at your door and they start taking your furniture and taking your car and you’re like, ‘What are you doing?’ They’re like, ‘You know your paycheck that you got last month? You didn’t earn that, you stole it, it doesn’t really belong to you.’
In an October 16, 2012 article, published in World Magazine, author Warren Cole Smith reported on D’Souza’s activities after a September 28, 2012 talk in Spartanburg, S.C. In the article, Smith states that D’Souza, who was married at the time, checked into a hotel with another woman, and left with her the following day. In a rebuttal to that article, D’Souza stated that he had separated from his wife, Dixie. He also confirmed that he had been engaged to the woman mentioned in the article, Denise Odie Joseph; he later suspended that engagement after the article prompted an investigation by officials at The King’s College where D’Souza served as president. It was later revealed that Mrs. Joseph was also married at the time. He officially filed for divorce from Dixie on October 4, 2012.
After the news of the engagement became public, the trustees of The King’s College announced after meeting on October 17, 2012 that D’Souza resigned his position as president of the university in order “to attend to his personal and family needs”. The scandal resonated particularly at The King’s College because “The King’s College is not a typical institution of higher learning. It is a tiny Christian college based in a downtown Manhattan office building, whose mission statement articulates a ‘commitment to the truths of Christianity and a biblical worldview”.
… indicted by federal prosecutors and charged with campaign finance law violations. Prosecutors alleged that D’Souza used straw donors to funnel campaign contributions to an unnamed Senate candidate. D’Souza was charged with violations of the Federal Campaign Act of 1971, with prosecutors asserting that D’Souza had violated the limit of $5000 for any individual to contribute to a specific candidate for US Senate in a single election year, by directing others to make contributions to Wendy Long in the amount of $20,000 and reimbursing them. He would be arraigned in a Manhattan federal court on January 24. The charges include making illegal campaign contributions, with a maximum sentence of two years incarceration, and causing false statements to be made to the FEC, with a maximum sentence of five years incarceration.
D’Souza’s attorney argued that D’Souza “did not act with any corrupt or criminal intent whatsoever” and described the incident as “at most … an act of misguided friendship”. His co-producers alleged that the indictment was politically motivated retribution for the success of his 2016 movie.
He also wrote a book in 1995 declaring : ‘The End of Racism’ which he then subsequently disproved by releasing another book in 2010: ‘The Roots of Obama’s Rage,’
So…… D’souza - why exactly is he a thing again?
