Charles Johnson,

Thanks for pointing this out to us.

Charles Johnson,

You should add a hypocrisy tag to this post by the way.

I wish more people would see this. It’s painfully obvious that Greenwald is hack, and always has been.

That said, the author of this piece says 3 things that are irritating at best that almost kill it for me.

First she calls Snowden a whistle-blower, as if it’s an undisputed or self-evident fact. It is not and he is not.

Second she repeats the dudebro assertion that the NSA is accessing everyone’s personal communication records with no further elaboration or comment, implying that it is true at face value.

Third, when shes talking about a lack of anti-war sentiment or commentary in mainstream media in the US after 9/11, she forgets to point out that the news media was “self censoring” not because they were afraid of Government reprisals, but they were afraid of negative public reaction and lowered ratings. These are two vastly different things, and to compare that to Russia suppressing dissent on it’s own foreign policy is stupid at best and intellectually dishonest at worst.

Greenwald was for the war in Iraq before he needed it to use against US

In another thread on LGF someone used a movie reference which I think sums up the dudebro attitude perfectly. Modified from memory it goes something like this:

These modern Libertarian-minded self-appointed “heroes” (aka whack jobs) will not be satisfied until they bleed every drop of monetary gain and celebrity from a society and then Goodfellas-style light a match to the whole thing as they leave.
