Where is the filmmaker whose villain will download hijack software to extort the wealthy owners? Turn off the brakes, lock the doors, jam the cellphones to only receive calls from one particular number…

Teslas require far less maintenance. Mechanically, they’re much simpler machines than internal combustion vehicles.

The auto dealers preserve their profits and obsolescing business models & the politicians preserve their campaign donations and taxes. Only the public loses, mainly in the long term, and who cares about that?

There’s still tires, drivetrain, and suspension to consider. Those things do wear out, you know? Unless you’re one of those people that don’t bother replacing the shocks after they’re blown.

From the article:

The flip side is that without an internal combustion engine, there’s not as much to fix.

That’s a bullshit sales pitch if I ever heard one. I will crawl under my truck every ten thousand miles and do a $30 oil change, no biggie. My VW had free oil changes at the dealer until the car was out of warranty, and I don’t have to crawl under that to change the oil.

Would you buy a car you couldn’t get service for? The car can diagnose itself, who is gonna swap out the part? Can you get the part?
