Might as well add the Amazon Fire TV link
this unit might make a lot of sense when coupled with Amazon Prime’s library of movies and TV.

Hey Charles, when I put the bare link in it did not add your affiliate code, I had to manually edit that in. You might want to check that.

My advice for TV streamers: pretty much any surplus computer <6 years old can be hooked up to your TV with a cheap HDMI adapter and stream as well as these devices. With the Computer you are not in a walled garden scenario, you can stream from almost any site. E.G. Hulu, Amazon, Apple, Netflix, cbs.com, cw.com, etc. etc. etc. The computer can also act as a DVD/BLU ray player, your personal content engine for photos, home movies, etc.

This is the future of TV watching. If/when they figure out a way to broadcast live events it will take over

No line of sight is good. No mention of VESA support bad. I suppose it can be Velcro’ed to the back of the TV. Is there an app for RC over cellphone? Native codec support looks ok nothing special though. Hopefully it won’t rely too much on Plex transcoding for local files.

This is the best idea Amazon can think of? Srly?

If the entertainment titans of the internet age really want more income, the smartest long-term investment would be lobbying congress to mandate telecom/cable companies provide better internet access nationwide. Lots of people whom are currently stuck with dial-up and/or stupid bandwidth caps would suddenly become customers. More customers=good. Its simple logic.

Nothing hugely innovative here. The biggest difference between this box and others is the UI. Choose the interface you like best and go with it. HBO Go and other big channels are missing from this one, just as certain channels are missing from the other boxes. It is definitely possible to stream all of this from a computer/HDMI setup, but these type of boxes really simplify things for the user and do so for less than $100. A pretty low entry fee.
