Russ Campbell’s Blog: Fed Up With Wynne’s Liberals?
The joke that masÂquerÂades as a funcÂtionÂing OnÂtario provinÂcial govÂernÂment has now beÂcome stale. Quite simÂply, it’s time for a change at Queen’s Park.
True, the LibÂerÂals did win a four-year manÂdate in 2011, and so can leÂgitÂiÂmately conÂtinue in ofÂfice unÂtil Oct. 1, 2015. But that elecÂtion saw DalÂton McGuinty at the helm not KathÂleen Wynne. And supÂport for McGuinty was tepid at best.
At disÂsoÂluÂtion in 2011, the McGuinty LibÂerÂals held 70 seats in the legÂisÂlaÂture. They lost 18 of those in the elecÂtion—to fall beÂlow maÂjorÂity staÂtus—with popÂuÂlar supÂport from only 37.65 per cent of votÂers. FurÂtherÂmore, in the months since that elecÂtion, the rulÂing Grits have slipped furÂther to a mere 48 seats (one seat is empty) out of a toÂtal of 107, what with resÂigÂnaÂtions and reÂsultÂing by-elecÂtions.
Hardly a ringÂing enÂdorseÂment.
