More to the Story of UNC Student-Athlete Essay Featured on ESPN
Originally this story troubled me, not because student-athletes cheat in college (that happens all the time and I could tell you a hundred stories about it I’ve seen), but because this story was being used by people like Glenn Beck to smear the African American Studies program at UNC (which is actually quite good) — and African American studies in general.
Turns out, the 146 word poorly written essay about Rosa Parks was probably a rough draft and not associated with the “fake” classes the whistleblower had cited. The A- awarded was probably the kid’s final grade in the course, not the grade on the paper.
