Schuykill River Flood Level - May 1, 2014
Comparison photos of water level on the Schuykill River in Center City part of Philadelphia. Buildings in the background are 30th Street Station and an office building I jokingly refer to as “The Sandcrawler” due to its shape being a very rough approximation of the vehicle from Star Wars.
First photo was taken approximately April 24th. Second on May 1st, after the waters had receded from their highest point.
After the waters started to recede
You can see the approximate earlier water level by the leaves and debris stuck in the fence in the foreground.
Something of interest also seen was men rescuing carp stranded in large puddles left by the receding river. They were getting them into buckets or milk crates and tossing them back into the river.
