Back in the 1995, OnÂtario found itÂself in much the same mess as we’re faced with in 2014: bloated, inÂefÂfecÂtive govÂernÂment; unÂhealthÂily high trade union inÂfluÂence on govÂernÂment polÂicy; strucÂtural (that is to say, perÂmaÂnent) budÂget deficits; and an over-deÂpenÂdence on fedÂeral transÂfer payÂments—though we had not yet beÂcome a “have not” province.
ForÂtuÂnately, howÂever, as we are now, we were facÂing a June genÂeral elecÂtion that would change all that.
In June 1995, we chose the ProÂgresÂsive ConÂserÂvÂaÂtives led by Mike HarÂris and ushÂered in the golden years of modÂern OnÂtario.
