I don’t think Donnelly was ever a viable candidate. He lacks qualifications and campaign funds.

I don’t think Donnelly was ever a viable candidate. He lacks qualifications and campaign funds.

The only thing he’s got going for him is his lead in the polls.

Tim Donnelly says lead in polls is proof of ‘something in the air’

If he wasn’t a Republican I’d think he has a sense of humor.

Maybe the something in the air is nitrous oxide?

That could be it.

Well, Donnelly is a tea partier, so he knows that all he needs to get his CA TP buddies to vote for him is a foul mouth that spews out lies and vile anti-government/Obama rhetoric.

I can imagine he’d be another LePage were he to ever become governor of CA—an ignorant know-nothing who never accepts responsibility for anything.

We’re less than a month from the primary and I can’t believe that Tim Donnelly is still beating Kashkari in the primary. Kashkari, even as the “establishment Republican” would still lose to Jerry Brown by 25-30, but I now want to believe that CA Republicans are so resentful of what this state looks like that they will nominate the “TAKE ARE STATE BACK” minuteman/tea partier to lose by 40+ points.

Issa’s comments prove that the “establishment” wing of the GOP is freaking out about the idea of having to defend Donnelly as the nominee. It wouldn’t surprise me to see Republicans decline to endorse a candidate in CA this fall (or even for some to endorse Brown) out of fear that they will have to defend the open white resentment in 2016 when they will need to massively increase their non-white vote to have any chance against Hillary Clinton.

If Hollywood scriptwriters inserted this clown into a screenplay as a rightwing politician, they would be condemned for using a ridiculously over the top stereotype.
He’s antivax, anti-immigrant, anti-science, anti-gay and once had to cop a plea bargain after TSA bagged him with a loaded gun in his carry-on luggage.
