Vladimir Putin is making news again, this time by banning foul language in Russia. According to CNN, he signed off this week on a new law that “bans swearing at arts, cultural and entertainment events” in the country. In the Kremlin’s words, the new measure “bans the use of obscene language.” While Putin is wrong on Ukraine, he’s right on profanity.

Are you fucking kidding me?

So, let me get this right - forwarding all manner of nasty stereotypes about glbti, black people, women, Muslims, et al, - that is ok. Removing the human dignity of these groups for the sake of religious dogmatism or political expediency, - that is all cool. Free. Speech.

‘Fuck’ however, is somehow a crime against our virtue to such a point we should engage in outright prohibition of the term?

‘Fuck’, and its close relatives, otherwise known as ‘expletives’, harm no one. Let me say that again for those who still flinch when these words are uttered (or those still snickering that I managed to say it twice without being blogbleeped)

‘Fuck’ harms no one.

When used in its purest sense - it is simply a synonym for sex. Reproduction. Shagging. Balls deep. Making babies. Gettin’ Squishy with it.

It is a beautiful thing. It is, after-all, how each one of us got here (Well, the vast majority anyways, nothing against those ‘non-fucking’ creations among us). We were fucked into existence.

When it is used as an expletive, it simply is a replacement for other angry condemnations of our particular issue at any moment.

The intent is the same. You had a problem, you reacted in a human way. You acted in a human manner because you were fucked into existence by two other humans balls deep into fucking you into existence (well most of us anyways - see above disclaimer, or dont, I do not really give a $^&*@)
