Apple and Google settle Motorola patent dispute
Big news for technology markets.
Apple and Google have agreed to drop a long-running legal dispute over patents.
Since 2010, the iPhone maker and Motorola - which was bought by Google in 2012 - have been fighting several lawsuits across the globe, and claiming that the other had copied its smartphone technology.
“Apple and Google have agreed to dismiss all the current lawsuits that exist directly between the two companies,” a joint statement said.
“Apple and Google have also agreed to work together in some areas of patent reform.”
The agreement marks the end of around 20 remaining actions in the US and Germany.
