The states are in a free market free for all fight for employers. And we usually love it. Just read the cinema trades about how L.A. and California are asked to step up and keep production here. Same as your other Page about Pratt & Whitney

Same thing, er just not OMG GUNZ!!! Which is always good for a dysfunctional response from pundits and some hyper critical bloggers.

I think it’s more about being able to pay low wages, no unions, and fewer regulations.

In other words, the bottom line.

Remington got $36 million to move its factory from Illion NY to Alabama. I’m figuring that a similar figure was in play for this move as well (or it’s included in the consolidated moves). In either case, Remington is simply following the corporate handouts from states that can ill-afford them to companies that will move from proven and established work sites to other areas in order to maximize the handouts until they run out, and then move on to the next state.

Then it sounds like Remington isn’t just taking hand-outs, its using this as an opportunity to consolidate operations.

Nailed it. Next stop is a little further south (Mexico) then offshore. Nothing new. Been happening for decades and neither party seems to care. The actual effect of them moving will ripple out and affect thousands more. I watched it happen and it continues. The tax base hit alone is massive.

Yes, they are consolidating many of their production lines in their new Huntsville, AL location. Huntsville is actually somewhat popular for defense contracts, with Fort Rucker and Redstone Arsenal nearby.
