Russ Campbellâs Blog: Can NDP Leopards Change Their Spots or Old NDP Dogs Learn New Tricks?
The New DeÂmoÂcÂraÂtic Party of OnÂtario seems inÂtent on reÂmakÂing itÂself or, at least, is tryÂing to conÂvince the provinceâs votÂers that it has transÂformed into LibÂeral-lite. ReÂcent evÂiÂdence of this is the NDPâs latÂest elecÂtion platÂform that leader AnÂdrea HorÂwath unÂveiled ThursÂday.
HorÂwath promised OnÂtarÂiÂans âa betÂter govÂernÂment,â one that she said âreÂspects their tax dolÂlars.â Then she went on to anÂnounce a platÂform that could just as well have been preÂpared for a LibÂeral party camÂpaign. In fact, the NDP platÂform reÂsemÂbles the LibÂeral budÂget she reÂjected, begÂging the quesÂtion, why we are even havÂing an elecÂtion if KathÂleen Wynne was doÂing much the same as HorÂwath would have done had she been preÂmier.
