I love it!

When I got some extension tubes the first thing I did was take a photo of the cat’s nose. It must be a thing.

Heh, I can hardly wait for the weekend so I can play with it uninterrupted. It’s the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM Lens. Canon’s got a rebate going on right now, so I couldn’t resist buying something.

Now I’m seriously considering selling the 85mm f/1.8. I don’t really need both, y’know? For general/portrait use there’s not much difference in focal length, and the 85mm has CA/purple fringing issues in high contrast areas. Sure, you can step up the aperture to get around it, but that kinda kills the benefit of having a fast lens. Plus, it’s lacking macro.

Definitely a thing. Of course, it was either that or yet another photo of one of my Altoids Minis boxes, LOL.

I have the Canon extension tubes—can’t wait to try them out on the macro, just for the hell of it. Individually, they should get me up to 1:1.9 and 1:1.39 magnification—used together, who knows? Maybe somewhere between 1:1.5 or even close to 1:2, which would be way cool.

Cats nose is much better than (hope you saw this online) Hamster butt shots from Japan. Yeah… that’s a thing.

I’d sell that 85.

I have a similar lens, 105mm Sigma that was a gift. In fact I used that lens at the Zoo, where i got that water in air shot that came to life in Color negative.

Hamster butt shots. Eew. Not gonna Google that one. LOL

re: #6 Rightwingconspirator

Aha! I came across that photo when you posted it in one of the main threads (after everyone had already moved on) and I left a comment asking you what it was and what lens you used, but I guess you never saw the question as I know you would have answered. Finally, my curiosity is satisfied!
