Dr. Ben Carson (Birther, Young Earth Creationist) - The Lord Told Me What To Say At Prayer Breakfast

Dr. Ben Carson appeared on Pat Robertson’s 700 Club yesterday, and said that God not only told him to speak at the prayer breakfast last year that got him so much attention, but the Lord also told him what to say:

“I realized that God probably had something special he wanted me to say,” Carson explained. “But I didn’t know what it was until the morning of the prayer breakfast.”

“After a while of wrestling with it, I just said, I’m leaving it alone, the Lord will tell me what to say,” he continued. “And that morning, it was so clear in my mind what I was supposed to say.”

Ben Carson is a scientist. Pat Robertson is a preacher. Carson doesn’t believe in any earth sciences. Robertson does believe that the earth is billions of years old. So. Fucking. Weird.

Carson is no scientist. Medical doctors in general are not scientists although some MDs are.

More definitively, it is categorically impossible for a young earth creationist to be a scientist.

I was not aware of that! So Doctors are kind of their own thing? I figured you had to have a somewhat scientific background to be a Doctor. Then again, I studied English and History in college. :)

You need a technical background in the life sciences to be a doctor, but for most doctors it is like engineering. Scientific principles discovered by others are used as ‘tools of the trade’ which is rather different than trying to push the boundaries of science.

Some doctors are medical researchers looking for new drugs, treatments, etc., and these people are definitely also scientists.
