Sigh, is there something new there? I wish people would give us trying to demonize pot. We already know that alcohol and tobacco are far worse, but they generate tax revenue, and are legal and controlled, by governments. I think we’d do much better legalizing pot and outlawing tobacco and alcohol.

You don’t have to believe marijuana is perfect and can do no harm to legalize it. It is far less troublesome than alcohol, though I’m sure there are some difficulties. Maureen Dowd, for instance, ate a bite of a marijuana candy, didn’t get high in the first ten minutes, so she ate the rest of it, and then, BOOM, she was paranoid and fearful for a few hours, and also, just as neurotic and inconsequential as she always is — and while that means that marijuana couldn’t make her hip, it doesn’t mean much more than that.

Don’t lock up everybody because one study shows some negative effects.

Aspirin has its negative side as does just about everything you can put in your body. The rap pot has taken is beyond ludicrous. The laws against it have ruined far more lives that toking ever will. That is the crux. It is time to stop criminalizing a drug whose use causes far more positive than negative effects. The whole effort behind outlawing it was racial and misguided and it’s high time to end the charade. A weed whose use can ease pain and help those with disease scares the hell out of big pharma. So when legal, those who imbibe and have issues can get help with no stigma or law consequences. Sounds like a winner to me.
