I put jewish-history.com on my resume not for the religious content but because of the technical skills used in working on that site.

Muslims were the least likely to be contacted by employers, receiving 38 percent fewer e-mails and 54 percent fewer phone calls than the control group.

Imagine my surprise. //

I used to receive thousands of resumes a week.
Back in the day when people sent them in, and still when they came via email.

When I saw the person put an objective statement on their resume that stated some baloney like “objective: to serve the lord god almighty and be blah blah blessed kingdom blah blah, etc” It went straight to the shredder. You are applying for a damn job, not to be a freaking preacher.

Worse was when I had employees proselyting and all that, 99% of the department hated it, but the employee was empowered by jeebus to be the biggest pain in the ass.

Wait a second…people actually put their religion on a resume? Who are these people and why have I never met any?

Under “affiliations” some people list church membership.

Also, if you have done any work for a church nonprofit—however it’s possible to do that without being a member of that church.

Okay true most of us know better. I would never… But these were fictitious-3200 of them. So the results are a fair indicator. Love to see this done in California.

Slightly sloppy writing in the article: If evangelicals fared about as well as unaffiliated, then putting a religion on doesn’t hurt your chances, putting a religion other than Evangelical or Jewish does.

I would imagine that putting down something like my Episcopalian church might hurt (we are perceived as liberals) but 1) I´ve never had any trouble from saying in my interviews that I require Sunday AM´s off and 2) I have a glowing letter of reference from my priest that has helped me significantly.
