Israeli Military Carries Out Airstrikes in Syria
JERUSALEM (AP) — The Israeli military says it has carried out airstrikes on nine targets inside Syria, including a regional command center, in response to a deadly cross-border attack that killed an Israeli teenager a day earlier.
The Israeli military said a regional “headquarters” as well as unspecified “launching positions” were targeted, and “direct hits were confirmed.” The airstrikes took place in the vicinity of Sunday’s violence in the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights.
In Sunday’s attack, a teenage boy was killed in what Israel said was an intentional cross-border attack. It was the first fatality on the Israeli side of the volatile front since the Syrian civil war erupted three years ago.
