PTSD. Or he needs a hobby. With no glue involved.

..or it might be that the “300” figure is rounded and the actual number is slightly more or less than this. For security /intelligence reasons, or whatever.

Because, let’s not forget, the “300” were all slaughtered by the Persians.

My ops manager scheduled me for classroom 12 this week. There are 12 eggs in a dozen. You have to break a few eggs to make an omelet. This is her attempt to break me.

Gee, this is easy.

re: #3 Pie-onist Overlord

Because, let’s not forget, the “300” were all slaughtered by the Persians.

Only after killing 3000 of the Persians and thwarting the invasion.

Also, the 300 were all gay, 150 couples. As long as we’re making up fannish conspiracy theories.

How high are you right now?

300 Spartans

…and around 4 to 7 thousand other Greeks, depending on the source, who didn’t get the violence porn makeover.

Also, the Spartans were totally fucking creepy. And so is Frank Miller.

Well, given how Iran tends to notice such things—after all, the original 300 movie was assumed to be an American propaganda film—I would not be surprised to discover the number 300 was chosen deliberately in order to rattle their cage. Because that is what it will do.

For many of its disciples, pop culture is an arcane fetishistic religion. The thinking here is on the same level as reading the entrails of an owl, or divining the intent of foreign rulers by the swirl pattern of coffee grounds.

The stupid and insulting part is not the possibility that the Iranians would notice this association, some of them no doubt will since they also have pop culture fetishists. It is, rather, the idea that Obama would do this on the deliberate assumption that it would influence Iranian military policy.
