Palestinian Teen Death Sparks Clashes
Police in Jerusalem are investigating whether the body of a Palestinian teenager found early Wednesday in a forest west of the city is linked to a potential revenge murder for three Israeli teens whose bodies were discovered on Monday following days of intense searching.
While police have yet to establish a motive for the Arab youth’s death the reports of his killing nonetheless appeared to spark clashes Wednesday between Israeli security forces and several hundred Palestinians.
Extra police units were dispatched in Jerusalem and the city’s light rail train service was cut short to avoid the direct scene of the violence. Police also closed a key holy site in Jerusalem’s Old City to visitors after rock throwing there.
