Chuck Todd is no better.

Let’s see if we can focus in on the problem.

David Gregory and John McCain, David Gregory and Lindsey Graham, David Gregory and John McCain and Lindsey Graham.

Damn near every single week, unless the Cheney family is available.

Maybe the geniuses at NBC could start there.

Probably not, though. Keep the MOAR WAR twins on every week, and go with a real journalist like Chuck Todd. Or really go outside the box and go with another hard hitter like Luke Russert.

Somewhere within the Beltway, MTP’s producer is bemoaning the fact that Tim Russert only had one child.

Perhaps if they asked some of the viewers, like myself, who used to watch the show, we could shed some light on the situation. I’d be happy to be of assistance. Simply put, Greggory sucks. He is terrible. As the epitome of the modern professional journalist his transparent concern for ratings and gets (fyi David, John McCain isn’t a get, he is a gimme) as well as evident reluctance to offend the feelings of his regular lineup accounts for about half of his suckiness. The balance is attributable to his personal lack of knowledge about politics or economics, or indeed, anything resembling an incontrovertible fact that might intrude on the carefully balanced false dichotomies he works so hard to construct. Does it get better on those rare occasions when Gregory rouses himself from his intellectual stupor to challenge some bullshit too odious to let pass? It does not. His technique in such a case is to ask almost exactly the wrong question, the better to let his guest double down on the bullshit and to follow up with no follow up . He does not have the intellectual capacity for this job. There is no way to fix that.

re: #4 1Peter G1

The reason the hosts of these shows are so squishy is because they know they won’t get any guests if they ask “hard” questions.

Like most bad things in the news business, I blame Fox News for this. Back when I was RW (but not NJ) I would watch Hannity and Colmes. I noticed immediately that RW guests would only talk to Hannity while non rightwingers would only go on alone with Colmes. I thought at the time that this is absolutely chickenshit. I didn’t realize then that it would spread to all of the purported “news” shows on the other networks, including the moderators of the alleged presidential debates who feel no obligation to step in when one of the performers makes a totally outlandish or just flat out false statement.

So, I no longer watch any tv news, news type shows, or debates. If I just want to hear pure propaganda I’ll go to the source: the RNC and DNC websites.

Good summation Skip. So, if you don’t mind me asking, where do you get your news?

For me, I try to sweep through as much reporting as I can, weight it, average it out and see if I can find the truth in it by comparison of it all.

Sometimes I try to use the “if this side said this” and the “other side said that” then the truth or facts must be somewhere in between. Or the relative to that…if they say this, then the opposite must be looked at to see if they are lying or misleading me.

One good thing about Little Green Footballs…the methods I’ve mentioned above sort of happen by the nature of the way Charles has it set up with the side bar pages and the main topics and how they go through the wash of the members comments.

re: #7 ObserverArt

I still read newspapers. Pathetic, I know, but at least they don’t set up fake interviews then call them news.

What many network CEOs don’t realize is that if they presented the facts and held their “guests” accountable for the BS they try to spread, viewership of these Sunday AM “news” programs would probably increase. I decided long ago that it wasn’t worth wasting my time watching RW shills like Gregory cater to RW pols who lie their asses off about everything.
