Well, that’s disgusting. Any doctor that refuses to treat the patient should have his/her license revoked - immediately. So many in Europe showing their true colors these past few weeks.

From what I’ve been reading, this doesn’t surprise me. It sickens me.

You cannot revoke a license for refusal to treat (at least in this country)…but damn, that was simply vile beyond belief. At least I know who NOT to see if I need a doctor in Belgium!

Vicious Babushka,

“Belgian Physician Refuses to Treat Jewish Patient Over Gaza Op”

Than he should go to jail, or at the very least lose his job. Refusing to treat people because you don’t like their political or religious beliefs is morally abhorrent, and should be against the law, if it isn’t already.

Than it should be.

This is the kind of thing that you see all the time at Arutz Sheva or Pamela’s blog .

Yeah, but the difference is that, if this were a Muslim being denied service, Pam would be applauding the doc. (Let’s not forget, there is plenty of Islamaphobia in Belgium as well) Either way, whatever the legality, this simply violates a physicians basic ethical code

Wouldn’t this doctor be violating the Hippocratic Oath? Wouldn’t that be more than enough reason to revoke the license?

Seconded.

Of course here in the U.S. wingnuts think a doctor should be allowed to refuse to treat if the treatment isn’t in accordance with their religious beliefs…

That defense worked out well at the Nuremberg trials. //

re: #9 Pie-onist Overlord

G.W.Bush made it legal in his first few days in office. Medical personal cannot be forced to treat someone if it is against their belief. I live in the US and in the last 10 years I have had 2 “doctors” tell me to my face that I was not worth treating because I was given up for adoption at birth. One is still teaching at University of Kansas Medical Center The grad student at the KU clinic was trying to figure out why my sprained ankle wasn’t responding to treatment and was told not to bother as I didn’t have a soul and wasn’t worth bothering with…the grad student was horrified. No one checked to x-ray, 2 broken bones. (I can’t seem to get through dragging it up today but it’s not an isolated case for me.) Apparently the Hippocratic Oath has been optional for quite a while. Israel doctors used to be known for giving everyone, even the enemy, the absolute best treatment available as they consider all life sacred. Apparently not any more. I watched Tour de France on a European channel and the Israel Tourism was running an ad with children playing on a beach and a very pregnant woman floating on the water with the voice over “come to Israel and create life”. While declaring war on Gaza. (IMO neither side is right or has the right and need to sit down and shut up. But I am old enough to remember almost all of the incursions.) I’m going to go watch kittens on the Internet.

Doctors don’t follow the Hippocratic Oath, which is a very old and outdated thing. They have various new oaths, which depend on what area they’re in. I don’t know Belgiums, and I don’t know if it has a section about treating everyone regardless of politics and religion.

If that’s true, it makes me really upset that I ever was a Bush supporter.

If it happened as described, throw the guy in prison and throw away the key.
