Maybe the serum helped, maybe the fact that both patients sought treatment immediately upon onset of symptoms saved (or hopefully will save) them both. The fear over bringing them here was stupid. This story is super scary though:

His behavior may have forced the closure of the hospital which treated his sister in Liberia and has definitely caused at least one doctor in Nigeria to develop Ebola. How many patrick sawyers are out there? The more I read about the guy and his schedule the more I wonder about his behavior over the last 2 weeks of his life.

Yeah that’s really scary! No wonder the State Department is and humanitarian organizations are suspending any non-essential travel.

As for Sawyer, sound like he panicked and I’ve also read before that one of Ebola’s late symptoms is dementia.

I don’t think his behavior while he was with his sister in the hospital in Liberia can be attributed to illness since he didn’t develop symptoms until after she died. Grief, rage that the national, regional, and global authorities had done so little to control the situation, denial, who knows? I’ve been shocked by the fact that Doctors Without borders has been the only organized agency on the ground. That is finally changing, but the WHO had gotten off their asses back in February or March we wouldn’t be facing a global public health crisis now.
