Florida Church Cancels Funeral After Learning Man Is Gay
Thoughtless stupid bigot. Doesn’t support gay marriage? Well, fine, but the guy is dead. Dead people don’t have marriages and they don’t have lifestyles to be attacked and disapproved. A funeral for the sake of his parents would not hurt anything, but their grief and well being is tossed aside for the sake of dogmatic conformity. Such is the politics of hate.
A pastor at a church in Tampa called off the funeral of 42-year-old Julius Evans less than 24 hours after learning Evans was gay, wfla.com reports.
New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Tampa initially said yes to hosting the man’s funeral, but revoked the invitation after a newspaper obituary listed Kendall Capers as Evans’ husband.
Evans’ family attends the church and wanted the funeral to be held there, Evans’ mother told WFLA.
T.W. Jenkins, the pastor of the church, told WFLA that New Hope doesn’t support gay marriage.
