Mississippi Public Broadcasting Won’t Air Abortion Documentary
The award-winning documentary After Tiller aired Monday as part of PBS’s documentary series “POV.” The title refers to Dr. George Tiller, an abortion provider who was assassinated in his church by an anti-choice activist in 2009, and the film chronicles the challenges of four late-term abortion providers in the U.S. and the women who make the decision to terminate.
But if you live in Mississippi and wanted to watch the documentary on television, you were out of luck. Even though the online schedule lists After Tiller as running, Mississippi Public Broadcasting (MPB) chose not to air it.
“It was my decision alone not to do it,” said Ronnie Agnew, executive director of MPB, “and it was a hard decision for Ronnie Agnew.”
