I feel the same way. The fact that people like this can’t see how hateful and disgusting what they’re saying actually is, is utterly disturbing.

I think it’s more a case of they don’t care about how

hateful and disgusting what they’re saying usually is …

They just want their version of what they think is normal should be - no religious minorities, etc., allowed.

The Illinois Family Institute is labeled as a hate group by the SPLC. Rightly so.

Will they ask for picture books that show the joy a little birdie experiences when after the West Nile virus deaths of her two daddies, she’s finally adopted by a daddy and mommy?

Because don’t children feel so Joyous when their parents die? Seriously, does she hate gays do much she can’t even imagine someone grieving at their death?

It is in fact the librarians, Higgins writes, who are censoring books by failing to go out of their way to seek “pro-heteronormativity books,” children’s literature that depicts the “harrowing fights” of “lesbian mothers,” or, even better, “picture books that show the joy a little birdie experiences when after the West Nile virus deaths of her two daddies, she’s finally adopted by a daddy and mommy.”

These are the insane ramblings of that old lady on the street shouting profanities at various passersby.

Except that the Illinois Family Institute has more influence on the Illinois GOP than the ravings of a random street person.

Unfortunately I bet that is true.

Phyllis Shafley’s sister?

Phyllis Shafley’s sister?

To be honest, I kind of doubt that, but who knows really. Siblings can either be very similar or very different. Laurie Higgins does share her bigoted anti gay views, but that doesn’t say anything about them being related or not.
