WHAT RAPE CULTURE? —Seriel Rapist Cop Daniel Holtzclaw Released From Jail After Posting $500k Bond
The Oklahoma City police officer accused of sexually assaulting eight black women while on duty was released from the Oklahoma County Jail Friday morning after posting his reduced bond of $500,000.
Daniel Holtzclaw was formally arraigned last week on several counts of sexual assault, including first-degree rape, forcible oral sodomy, sexual battery, indecent exposure, first-degree rape by instrumentation, first-degree burglary and felonious stalking. His alleged victims were all between 34 and 58 years old.
Holtzclaw, who is still on paid administrative leave from the Oklahoma City Police Department, is on house arrest, where he must remain at his father’s Enid, Ohlahoma home and only travel to and from his lawyer’s office in downtown Oklahoma City.

According to court documents, on the evening of May 1, 2013, Clifton Armstrong, a 39-year-old black man who suffered from paranoia and schizophrenia, called 911 for medical assistance. Holtzclaw, along with three fellow officers, arrived to his home. When given the option, Armstrong declined to enter a squad car in order to be taken to the hospital because he only wanted to travel in his grandmother’s vehicle. The officers then proceeded to hogtie Armstrong into submission using belts. He was declared dead shortly afterward, as alleged in a lawsuit filed by Armstrong’s mother, Velencia Maiden:
To media referring to #DanielHoltzclaw not as “alleged rapist cop” but as “former football player”: #rapeisrape and a uniform is not a halo.
