This morning I decided to get some shots of the lunar eclipse, aka “Blood Moon” instead of stringing news stories. I was experimenting so some did not turn out, but I will post the settings so you can learn from my mistakes.
Wide angle shot, 30mm f1.4, 2.5 seconds iso 200 - I had to reduce the exposure in lightroom to fix it however
This was taken with high ISO and gets grainy 1/6th sec, f11, iso 3200, 300mm
Here you can see the line of the eclipse and thin clouds traversing the moon. 1 sec. f11, iso 100 300mm
Same shot a few seconds later with the same settings & the clouds only on the bottom half.
The Moon at the end of my street, obscured by clouds and trees as it sets. 0.5 sec, f11, iso 100, 300mm
Again, with ISO set to 800.
Due to the jpg size restrictions you can’t really see these well, so I tweeted some of the better shots full size.
