Researchers Develop a Clock Far More Accurate Than NIST’s Quantum Logic Clock
Everything digital depends on how accurately and finely we can slice all these moments in time.
It has been reported that researchers have recently created a clock that is 50% better than the previous record holder, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) quantum logic clock.
The ‘strontium lattice clock’ was developed in the United States at the Joint Institute for laboratory Astrophysics (JILA) by a team of researchers from NIST and the University of Colorado.
As per researchers, this latest clock is so precise that it cannot gain or lose a second in five billion years. Detailing about accuracy of the clock, researchers said that the clock can even reveal the effect of gravity on time.
