So in the latest CNN poll of Republicans on their preferences for the 2016 presidential primary, Mitt Romney comes in first, which isn’t surprising since people remember his name. A little more odd is the fact that Ben Carson—retired neurosurgeon, habitué of conservative confabs, and courageous warrior in the battle against the “PC police” who claim that when you compare being gay to pedophelia and bestiality, it’s kind of uncool—comes in second.

He’ll fade eventually when how out of his element he is seeking any office let alone this office but the fact that a person who has expressed the many nutty sentiments that Carson has still polls well with the GOP electorate shows you that there’s no sign of moderating. 2016’s batch of candidates will make the 2012 ones look like moderates.

Moderate? Hell, they’re going for total insanity. If you do not have 10 guns a bucket load of ammo, vote GOP/Tea Party, think Mike Brown and every other person of color and some whites didn’t have it coming to them, know that Obama is a Muslim and commie and the Anti-Christ, all while being useless and a fool. the ACA is a Commie plot to steal your health care and the UN is coming to impound us all…….You ain’t normal. And I didn’t even get to religion and science yet.

Democrats couldn’t dream of a better candidate to compete with.
Not only will he alienate most centrists who wee fooled by Romney and McCain, he’ll turn off the right’s ever-growing(and ever more confident and louder) white supremacists.

As in 2012, almost every rider in the clown car will have a moment in the sun until the inevitable occurs and a solid establishment candidate like Bush or Romney again gets the nomination. This is Carson’s moment.
