I know, right? My jaw dropped as I read it! Which is a sad commentary in itself.

As I said in another thread, as politically fucked up and under the thumb of the TPGOP as much of the rest of Tennessee is these days, I am proud to say that Steve Anderson is my chief of police.

From a Tennessean profile on Chief Anderson a few days ago:

But law enforcement initially was his Plan C. He left the engineering program at Tennessee Technical University and came to Nashville in 1975 to become a prosecuting attorney. On Jan. 1 of that year he started working as a Metro cop to pay his way through Belmont University and Nashville School of Law, and although he got his law degree, he wound up falling in love with the side job.

“It’s addictive,” he said. “In law enforcement, I always get to be on the right side. I always get to do what needs to be done for the good of the city, so I don’t have to fight with myself about doing something I don’t necessarily believe in.”

Anderson says he sees Andy Griffith’s mild-mannered Mayberry sheriff as a role model — he keeps a picture of the actor near his desk at police headquarters. Andy was not an aggressive leader, Anderson said. Instead, he guided with a gentle hand and a consistent presence.

Anderson’s 40-year tenure with the department has mirrored that style.

To state once again, I am proud to have Chief Anderson in the service of the people of Nashville.

Detroit Local Powers First EV Charging Road in North America The road, about a mile from Local 58's hall, uses rubber-coated copper inductive-charging coils buried under the asphalt that transfer power to a receiver pad attached to a car's underbelly, much like how a phone can be charged wirelessly. ...
