In the first video, “she’s making generalized points based on some bad experiences she had in her life” (paraphrased).

the extended title to Laura’s piece:

After a year when misogyny and male violence dominated headlines, I want to find a way out of fear and bitterness

I think the man in the video is missing the point. She is not a political piece. She is sharing her emotions. She is working thru her issues and it is something that resonates with many women, so her article is published.

Kyle talkes about what’ “should be”, Laura focuses on “what is.”

I am not alone here.

Anticipating—and enduring—violence is part and parcel of being a woman.

Why is is this important? Because it resonates with so many women.

This is what should bother Kyle, not the political generalizations that are falsely drawn from the Laura’s article.

I’ll add this sobering bit:

According to Senator Joseph Biden, who pushed for the law to punish violence against women, “the single greatest danger to a woman’s health is violence from men.” Of course, the vast majority of men — honorable men — don’t hurt women, and women aren’t the only victims of violence. But the fact is, women are physically more vulnerable. We learn early that we must take extra precautions to protect ourselves.

misandry might hurt but misogyny kills

In the second video Kyle states “I shouldn’t criticize any women?”

Well, first, Laura’s article was a share of emotions and attempt at healing from her own abuse.

It is not appropriate to criticize emotions. They are neither good nor bad, right or wrong, they simply are.

Kyle has totally missed the point. By labeling anything feminism, neo-feminism or whatever or to have an opinion on what HE thinks feminism should be is NOT A MAN’S purview.

Kyle is not part of Laura’s discussion. She is not having a discussion, she is sharing her experience and emotions and the thoughts that have so far come from the two.

Again, this is the state of things.

Women are fearful of men.
Women are fed-up of being fearful of men.
Women are doing something about it.

Kyle sounds like Sean Hannity. Trying to use studies, and antidotes -appealing to authority to prove his point. He even appeals to “market demands” —in relation to video games —because, I guess, the invisible hand is androgynous. Even his so called sympathy with what he says he agrees about feminism is so write out of the Sean Hannity play-book, it’s comical.

Kyle seems to be saying:

Yes, Women are fearful of men
Yes, this is wrong
BUT, women shouldn’t be fearful of x, y, z. Those things are silly and I won’t agree with changing them.

Way back when, some men said they were all about equal rights, but then would rant about gender neutral bathroom.

Now, Kyle is all for old-school feminism, but not for the neo-feminism of big-booty Barbie?

please

As I’ve noted before my brain reads ‘Men’s Rights Movement’ as ‘Men’s Power Movement’.

Guys like this long for the days when they could tell a woman, “Shut up and make me a sammich!” then back it up with violence if they thought it was necessary. Which they always did.

All with impunity because women were chattel.

Screw you, Kyle. If you’re so weak you need to have power over women to be safe you don’t deserve a woman.

Which is something I don’t think Kyle realizes. By inserting himself into a conversation about which of Laura’s emotions is valid, he is trying to gain power over her.

Men want to act, their instincts are go fix, cure, solve. I feel Kyle’s confusion over all this. But really, he just needs to STFU.

Kyle isn’t a supporter of the “men’s Rights movement.” I thought I made that clear and in the second video, he even calls them stupid, points out they’re not right about much and insists he’s feminist. Unlike an “MRA” I don’t get the impression he says what he says because he wants power over women.

Like when Sean Hannity and Bill O’reilly say they are for reproductive rights, but don’t think abortion should be legal in “all” circumstances?
