At least 20,000 people are believed to have been displaced by the attacks. Some of those who died did so drowning trying to escape across Lake Chad.

It’s horrific, and the media’s lack of coverage is similarly so.

Fighting continued on Friday around Baga, a town on the border with Chad where insurgents seized a key military base on 3 January and attacked again on Wednesday.
