Wait a minute - this Katrina story originated with none other than Chuck Johnson, and it’s probably wrong.

Katrina Photos Show Water Did Surround Ritz-Carlton, Where NBC Anchor Brian Williams Stayed

I find it interesting that just as Williams’ story changed over time, so, apparently, has the pilot’s. He clearly remembered that the chopper they were took small arms fire, and that the chopper ahead was hit by RPG fire - which matches Williams’ 2007 recollection. Now, faced with others telling him his memories are wrong, he questions his original memory.

Curious. Will that pilot now be called a liar and a ‘thief of valor’?

Meanwhile, a contemporary report shows pictures supposedly taken from the Ritz Carlton, showing water in the street deep enough to navigate by boat.

Charles beat me to it.

False memory is a thing. Chances that Williams had a false memory episode are at least as good as that he lied.

Sorry to smear any poop on the floor. I can see how all of that happened to other people but I guess I’m still a little skeptical about whether or not BW really experienced it. Kinda the same way I lost a little respect for Hillary over the sniper fire flap.

Lemme try to exorcise that CCJ I’m possessed with:
“How much money will it take to get someone who treated Brian Williams for dysentery to come forward?” /

But in seriousness (and Williams defense), memory is an f’ed up thing. First person accounts are often too excited or far-removed to be wholly reliable.

The pilot questioning his memories confirms that memory is a fickle thing.

re: #6 Prof. Backpfeifengesicht, PhD

Sure, but that’s not a trait I like in a professional news guy
