Savage is always willing to make personal sacrifices for the greater good.

That sort of vulgarity lowers the level of a conversation and contributes nothing to said conversation. Poor show, Dan.

Nothing at all vulgar about what Dr. Carson said in your book?

I would be willing to wager that Savage will stop being vulgar to Republicans the very moment they stop opining idiotically and offensively about homosexuals.

Given that Carson’s thesis is that homosexuality is learned. and can be “acquired” via prison sex that probably isn’t consensual, I’d say an invitation to suck cock is a perfectly reasonable request for experimental rigor.

Ben Carson’s collected thoughts on gay people is that they’re dangerous, predatory crazy people who impulses are akin to a multiple felon raping his cellmate. Any person who thinks Carson’s is “respectable” because he doesn’t say FUCK, but finds fault with a callout that mentions cocksucking—remember, Carson’s own statement is explicitly about sexual acts, even if he doesn’t name them—has a rectum for a brain, and it’s packed full of turnips with terribly low SAT scores.

I can start every sentence for the rest of my life with “Cum-guzzling horsefucker” and still be less disgusting than Ben Carson’s thought process with regard to gay people.

If you can’t take it, don’t dish it. Those defending Carson are A-OK with him saying stupid and insulting shit but are deeply offended and butt hurt if anyone challenges his stupidity and ignorance. Free speech is a two-way street. Carson has the right to say stupid/ignorant shit, but at the same time, his targets have the right to respond to it. The lesson for his defenders is this: You don’t have the right to determine whether a certain thing offends others or not, and you don’t have the right to tell them “It’s no biggie, let it go” just because you are not a member of the group being disparaged by vile critters like Carson. Defending them, imo, shows you have a character flaw because you defend them simply because you “like” them, not because they’re right.

I have had to deal with people like Carson’s defenders my entire life, over 60 years, when it comes to matters related to race. They take it upon themselves to tell me that the acts of racism I witness with my own eyes, and that happen to me, aren’t happening, and that I should just “get over it.” That they do this shit pisses me off because they don’t have any idea what it is like to be black in America and to be constantly subjected to this type of demeaning shit, but they do think they are “authorities” when it comes to determining whether I’ve been a target of some stupid individual’s racism. How condescending of them to tell me that I’m not harmed by it when they have no g-d idea what it feels like. These individuals take the simple way out—-they figure that since they’re not ____ (gay, black, atheist, Muslim, a woman, etc,) others’ feelings don’t matter, because hey, they themselves weren’t targeted.

It is also appalling to me that these defenders of the indefensible don’t know how dangerous the behavior and words of Carson’s and other homophobes are. They seem to have no idea that people like these have a never ending thirst for targets and that one day, they could be that cow standing on the railroad tracks as the very individuals whose actions they have supported head that bias train straight at them going 200 mph.

I think a “second”career in television would be hard seeing how all the Saturday Cartoon shows have been cancelled.

Dan Savage has saved more lives than the cretin Ben Carson ever could.

WTF? “Lowers the level of a conversation”??? Bull.fucking.shit. These teabagging assholes have compared the LGBT community to Nazis, Hitler, the Mob, pedophiles, zoophilists, etc. The LGBT community was blamed for 9/11, Katrina, and every other disaster in this country. It’s been loooong overdue that the LGBT community start bring a flamethrower to this knife fight.

12 Amory Blaine  Mar 7, 2015 10:26:48am

re: #11 Dr. Matt

There is no lowering the conversation. Every one of these fucks in the conservative movement are worthy of way more than invectives.

13 ObserverArt  Mar 7, 2015 11:55:46am

Maybe Dark would be more comfortable if Savage had made it more clinical and said:

“Mr. Carson, my good man. Would you kindly provide me oral manipulation of my penis so that we may test your theory of a man becoming a homosexual by engaging in such an act?”

“I will provide my penis for you to test your theory and we can film it for scientific posterity. For it to be truly scientific though, we will both be locked into a small secure room and the only way you may leave is you have to perform the act.”

“After the act you will be free to leave the secure room and all we ask is you contact us in a few days and inform us if you have had any inclinations to want to perform more homosexual acts or if you discovered you’d never do that again and will forever say in public you understand that one cannot choose to be a homosexual?

You like science Dr. Carson. Let’s do this the scientific way.”

Better Dark?

Damn. I would have donated money to him, and worked tirelessly to get him on the ballot.

Welp, there’s still Ted Cruz to take a wingnut wrecking ball to the GOP modus operandi.

15 Drive By Commenter  Mar 7, 2015 12:53:35pm

Here’s another pile of shit from the used to be right wing now a fucking cult Presidential hopefuls;

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) denounced the Affordable Care Act and its health insurance exchanges on Saturday, calling instead for a “market-oriented” alternative in line with what many in his party support.

“We’ve created a monstrosity of consolidating power in Washington, D.C., suppressing wages, making it uncertain for investment. In fact, the greatest job suppressor in the so-called recovery that we’ve gone through is Obamacare. And I think replacing Obamacare with a market-oriented approach — that is, where local and state input starts to drive the policies away from this top-down system — is something I think we ought to be doing,”
Bush said at the Iowa Ag Summit, a forum on agriculture issues that also drew several other would-be presidential hopefuls.
Can you count all the dog whistle key words used in this dissertation on imbecility? Ignore the fact it’s an outright lie. They do.

Vulgar it is but it is not on the same level as, say, me telling Carson and other superstition mongers to kiss my arse (which I might well do since polite discourse only serves to legitimize these charlatans).
Dan is actually making a point with this admittedly gauche imagery. The claim that homosexuality is a choice is provable, yet noone will take the challenge. They are repelled and disgusted, because in fact THEY HAVE NO CHOICE.

Given what Carson has been saying about gay people and by his own admission, not thinking about it, I think Dan was well with his bounds here. Is it a little crude? Yes but the constant homophobia by assholes like Carson is exactly what prompted this.

19 HappyWarrior  Mar 7, 2015 2:42:53pm

Sometimes you gotta be a little crude to make a point honestly. Carson by his own admission doesn’t know what he’s talking about yet he does anyhow because he knows how homophobia and “being gay is a choice” plays with the crowd whose votes he wants and that’s infinitely more vulgar than Dan Savage telling him to suck his cock.

re: #3 Dark_Falcon

Read Savage’s comments in context. He’s not saying, “Suck my dick” as the usual insult you would hear from a guy who’s pissed off at another guy.

He’s saying that Carson would clearly not want to suck his dick because he’s not gay, and that there really is no “choice” in the matter. Which is what scientific evidence backs up.

The true vulgarity here is that Carson, an accomplished man of science, throws all that out the window in order to make a thoroughly unscientific, purely politically motivated bs statement. All in order to appear far right enough to legitimize a doomed presidential run.

Carson may get a talk radio or conservative TV gig. He won’t be the nominee, he has no message discipline and “thinks” out loud too often.
