Yep and it was to be fair a close election.

All this talk from Bibi about how we cant trust the Iranians (which may be true)…turns out we can’t trust him.

This is one of those subjects where I am under informed.Big time. I just can’t begin to fathom Israeli politics. in anything but the broadest ways. I have done my reading about national policy and its history. Israeli domestic politics? Not a minute.

From my seat it’s hard to sort noise from data in a partisan cubed brinkmanship circumstance like this. I just hope that in the end the relationship that has outlasted many respective governments/administrations will easily survive the mistakes that are of by and for a particular government.

Honestly the two state two step completely wrecked Bibi’s credibility to me. Obviously that had taken a hit by his speech already. But to me anyway this is as big a deal. Because based on that national policy reading I have done the two state solution is the only viable solution for the Palestinians and the Israelis. A single speech will lose influence and relevance over time.

Frankly, I think what got Obama upset is that Bibi felt the need to bring himself to Washington to give a speech that bashed Obama’s policy with the approval of Obama’s Congressional opponents. Bibi’s free to disagree with what Obama wants. After all while our two nations interests are similar, they are not identical which is something Bibi’s American right wing sycophants don’t get. Furthermore, I think Obama had a legitimate problem with Bibi appealing to xenophobia to retain his power. I feel bad because the American-Israeli relationship is a special one but Bibi has IMO disrespected Obama for much of his time in office and preferred pandering to American right wing extremists than trying to get to know and respect his American counter-part.

Yeah that sounds right. That two state two step as I call it crossed a massive red line. He put himself ahead of a policy far larger and much wiser than he is. The two state solution is the solution.

Scare tactics like Arabs will vote was just despicable. Diverse democracy is another must have for Israels sake. Just IMO of course.

There will be no two state solution with Bibi in charge. Finally he told the truth. Good. And good for Obama for standing up to his nonsense.

Bibi makes a fool of himself by insisting on all or nothing policies. If one Palestinian throws a rock the two state deal is off.

The way the politics are looking Bibi is a two faced race baiting hypocrite who is trying to nix a deal for regular inspections of Irans nuclear capabilities.

Bib will bactrack a bit rhetorically but will do anything in his power to make the 2SS impossible in the future. More settlements, etc.

Especially since Israel is rightfully defended as being a stable democracy surrounded by dictatorships re: your point about diverse democracy. Bibi has been acting like a politician and less a statesman and frankly what Israel needs right now is a statesman. Bibi ain’t that.
