Well, lets remember that controversial issues tend to sell outside of market — i.e., FemThor #1 probably sold more because it sold to people who wanted one just for the controversy and collectability of the issue. It probably makes more sense to look at later issues to see how sales go:

FemThor issue #5: $69,513 archive.today
Thor issue #5: $54,000 archive.today

Not exactly what I would call “way more.” It’ll be interesting to see what sales figures will be like by issue 25, in the extremely unlikely event that FemThor makes it to 25 issues.

Hat tip to Jenn of Hardwire for the numbers and sanity:

I understand what you’re saying. Still, rubbing the Gamergate slime’s noses in it is always a good thing too. Anything that does that is a very good thing, indeed.

Did you all agree on that narrative on one of your gamergate apologist forums?

I think the sales are going to hold up for quite awhile, if you read the actual article it’s comparing start of series sales to other Thor start of series sales, that is fair enough to me.

I’d be really surprised if it happens. In the end, what holds up comic sales after the first few issues are diehard comic book fans, and this series has ruffled a few feathers — it has a Mary Sue main character, it violates established cannon, and it’s preachy as all hell — awkwardly so. We’re seeing the controversy and the baiting pump up sales, but I’d be surprised if a year from now if it wasn’t reconned away.

I wouldn’t mind seeing the concept - that of a young feminist superheroine with a chip on her shoulder - explored in more detail with a spin off, though.

I don’t really follow comics closely enough — Has Marvel explored/exploited the Valkyrie myth in it’s lineup? It seems like a no brainer to use that if they want to add a powerful, independent new heroine based on the Norse Mythos. But then again, doing so wouldn’t let them ride the coattails of an established character, so…

Why we disbelieve you. Thanks, game over.

Well at least they’re not drawing her as a stripper with superpowers.

Comics have started to make progress in that department.

Um, you know, if you’re attempting to say something, it helps if you know that Marvel has long had Valkyrie as a character. In fact, she was a member of the Avengers, in addition to being a current members of The Defenders. In other word, what you just showed is that you not only aren’t reading the comics, you haven’t even done a basic search.
