Then I read the rest. Large scale unsuspected cash agriculture is a really bad idea. Seriously with legalization comes responsibility.

This story is complete bs, even the part about the DEA issuing a warning. That was a quote taken out of context. It was debunked weeks ago.

The Washington Post headline is misleading (as becomes clear in their own text) but note that the article does in fact quote agent Fairbanks’ remarks as fully as does the Crack rebuttal. The most misleading part is that he was not referring to a potential effect of legalization specifically, but to an effect of marijuana cultivation in general. Otoh, the testimony was delivered during a senate hearing that pertained to the medical marijuana bill specifically (I can listen to the audio as well as Cracked can).
I got caught out by an overblown headline in a usually reliable source, but the fact is a DEA agent really did cite stoned rabbits as a potential hazard, the context of the remarks is the medical marijuana bill and the article is a long way from being complete BS, the august word of Cracked notwithstanding.
