This isn’t just limited to American conservatives. In Canada Stephen Harper has absolutely razed environmental protections.

The GOP is like a big section of American business these days. Build nothing. Invest in nothing. Leverage, buyout or steal everything built or invested in by others. Sell it. Pocket profits. Move on to next grift.

For the most part, the GOP seems to have become the party of greed and religious fanaticism.

The Party Of Fear and Loathing with heaping side dishes of hate, bigotry and ignorance. Laughing all the way to the bank.

I can’t tell if they really want to do it or are they doing it just to piss off liberals. Either way it’s childish. Years ago, National Parks were something all Americans could be proud of.

re: #5 Iwouldprefernotto This does not apply to national parks- yet. National forests and national parks are not the same thing, despite their often being confused. National forests are generally open to resource use and there have always been battles over just how much resource use will be allowed on these lands.

The key point here is that conservatives have totally rejected any idea that restrictions on uses of public lands are legitimate, and they want to get federal lands transferred to the states so the federal government can no longer put environmental protections on these lands.

This is one thing to really keep an eye on. Watch out for the Republicans to sneak through larger and larger efforts to permanently dispose of environmentally valuable federal lands, especially if they are going to or just did lost an election and know this is their last chance for a while.

Really keep an eye on this issue!
