Deadly Wildfires Rage Across Siberia
Wildfires in the Russian region of Khakassia have killed at least 15 people and injured thousands more over the last few days.
At least 1000 homes have been destroyed in the southern Siberian region, causing around £68 million worth of damage.
Wildfires in Russia often start when locals set grass on fire to clean fields up after the winter, a widespread practice criticised by environmentalists as well as state officials.
Dry, windy and unseasonably warm weather has allowed the fires to rapidly spread across the region’s grasslands.
