On the other hand, Disneyland/Disney World are not the only theme parks out there and aren’t critical to anyone’s existence.

People are evidently willing to pay that amount for entertainment, and while I think it is sad that middle class families can no longer afford a Disney vacation, I suspect it will eventually come back to bite Disney in the rear. Sooner or later all those middle class kids who never went-and whose friends never went-will stop thinking about Disney as a vacation destination. The wealthy can’t keep Disney afloat forever.

Our first several trips we felt it was pricey, but that we got value for the cost. This last trip (4 days, 4 people) including Disney hotel stay, will be our last. Even with Fast-Pass, we spent far more time in lines than on rides. Dropping $35 for two brats, two beers and some fries (with no chair to sit on) felt silly.

While I notice that you have cherry picked the extremes to support your grudge, the problem with Disneyland/World is that it is too successful. In spite all the price increases, the parks are still full to capacity. This complaint makes no sense. I would say that it’s international travelers that have squeezed out the middle class from Disney, rather than blaming Disney itself. I’ve been there plenty of times, and there are few days where the parks aren’t jammed. Reducing the prices won’t necessarily make it accessible to the middle class. The capacity would wind up being “scalped” to the highest bidders, ultimately freezing the middle class out anyway. There are plenty of recreational venues available to the middle class, and I would concede that they are far below the standard of Disney. Rather than blame Disney for it, blame the people who can’t create the next Disneyland. Somebody should be out there, with a creative vision and a budding idea.

Disney is a destination to save-up for. Parents take their kids there and it is a BIG DEAL. Even on disney property there are less expensive lodgings including camping. AND there is a myriad of off-property locations for less expense.

It is pricey and a growing number of people choose not to max-out a credit card to go as that is the only way they could mange it.

I do know they discontinued their Florida resident card discount —which I thought was strange. I have a friend that lives locally and they were “members”. They used the park often —for birthday parties or just to visit for a while with the kids. I suspect they spent more money in a year at Disney than many others.

I’ve never had bad service or a bad experience at Disney. I really, really appreciate the high level of service they provide.

I can’t afford to go there —only when my husband has a convention on-property.

How about they open more fucking parks?

Spread the demand out.

And I’m sorry for the “mouse needs to die” comment.

I’m 24 hours post op knee surgery here and I feel like someone went to town on me with a 2x4.

I hope your recovery is reasonably quick.
