Lumberhead when I read this earlier you got me thinking so I was ready later in the day.

Reposted-Sedition is no longer illegal. I’m fine with that. But a confederate flag on a government building is (legal) sedition. It’s a statement to me that the government flying that flag is not united with the other states of America, that people owning and abusing humans is a legitimate culture in today’s world.

The message I get from that flag on an old pickup truck is one thing. Bad enough already. The message given by that same flag at a state capitol is a declaration these United States of America should not exist. That our serving president could or should be shackled to unpaid slave labor.

If Arizona could lose the Superbowl over gay rights, why can’t southern states that proudly fly the wrong damned flag be similarly shunned by pro sports and corporations? Should they not be held literally accountable?

Somebody call the NFL, Los Angeles could use a formerly rebel football team.

Good points by both of you. And as I said earlier the Confederate flag only really started to reappear in these states in the 50’s due to then burgeoning Civil Rights movement. That’s the reason why we see so many CSA flags in state capitols today not “pride” but state governments infuriated by civil rights.

I mentioned in a tweet to Charles that the university I graduated from has a major building on campus named after another guy who once lynched a black preacher during a service. This state really has nothing to say officially about this tragedy, because most of the folks in power are tacit enablers for this kind of behavior.

A Move On member has posted an online petition to the SC statehouse. Might as well join the Outside Agitators.

I just read that Governor Haley ordered the SC and US flags atop the statehouse to be lowered to half-staff, but the Confederate flag on the statehouse grounds was not. Due to a heritage law, only the legislature can order that flag to be lowered. nbcnews.com

It’s about 150 years too late, but tear down that flag.

Funny how a bunch of fuckheads that never miss a chance to tell you how much more patriotic they are than you, fighting to keep the flag of another country over their institutions.

A flag burning has been scheduled and I want to be there with a Bic lighter. It’s the Confederate flag. Okay kidding not aware of any such event. What a perfect protest that would be at this time.

Don’t just take down the flag, take down the education system as well and rebuild it with stronger standards. Then maybe people would be educated enough to chose wiser statehouse decor.
