Federal Officials Want Access to Encrypted Emails and Texts on Private Devices
“I don’t exactly know where the great demand for this is coming from,” Comey said of encrypted devices. “I don’t know ordinary folks who say, ‘I want a phone that can’t be opened.’”
Well, gee now that would be everyone who wants it to be quite difficult for hackers, identity thieves and financial / technological criminals. Some of those have nation state support. Then of course we should talk about the ongoing effort for non warranted access to this kind of data.
And yet sir you don’t understand the demand for a truly secure phone. That’s a big dent in your credibility. New fender big. Phones are the primary computing device for many of us. How secure do we want our wallets? Contact lists? Bank account access? Credit card/Amazon accounts? Our nav records from GPS and apps like Waze.
Why would anyone worry about that security?
